Well it’s been a long time with no update, but as everyone seems to find at this time of the year the holidays are an incredibly busy time! It was more crazy for us than usual this year because we traveled to Texas to be with Tess’s family for the holidays. Driving 16+ hours with three kids under the age of five doesn’t work very well during the day, so we pulled an all-nighter while the kids slept and it worked great.
During our time there, we visited with everyone at St. George the Great Martyr parish in Pharr, and I was asked to give an impromptu talk at their annual youth service retreat (where young adults from all over the country come to help with St. George’s food pantry and other ministries).
On our way home we stopped in San Antonio to visit family and to be with the community of St. Anthony the Great, where Tess and I got married almost six years ago. Then we took a long way around to visit with Fr. Nick and our sister mission of St. Basil the Great Mission in Weatherford, OK.
Here are some photos from our trip:
Location for Services in Rolla
Over the break we may have found a place to hold services in Rolla (thank God!), but we’re still waiting for confirmation. It should be confirmed by Friday, and if we can get confirmation for then, we may very well be able to hold our first Liturgy in Rolla before the end of this month!
They say when it rains it pours … Over the break we also had three good-sized design projects come through that have been in a holding pattern for the last couple months: A parish in Billings, Montana, an Orthodox camp in New York, and a new coffee table book for St. Tikhon’s Monastery. (If you know of anyone who is looking for a web or graphic designer, send them our way!)
